With the exception of 20 miles of unavoidable Interstate travel, the old road is still drivable through the Land of Lincoln. Route 66 begins in Chicago at the corner of Jackson and Michigan Ave. and continues through urban and rural Illinois until it hits the mighty Mississippi and the Illinois/Missouri border.
